## Design Edit

The dome will be based on the 3 frequency design detailed on Desert Domes. Some handy links:

• Strut calculator:
• Construction diagram:
• Build instructions:

## Numbers Edit

Want a dome just over 8' at the base. Note that the three frequency dome is 3/8th of a sphere rather than 1/2 so its base diameter is not the same as the spherical radius. This is important for using the struct calculator and doing other math.

Base diameter
100 in (8.33 ft)
Spherical radius
54.12 in (4.51 ft)
Strut lengths (base, base+1.5", base+1.5" fractional)
An extra 1.5" is added to these lengths so that a hole can be drilled 3/4" in from either side
A = 18.87 in, 20.37 in, 20 3/8 in
B = 21.84 in, 23.34 in, 23 11/32 in
C = 22.32 in, 23.82 in, 23 13/16 in
10 ft conduit cuts
A: 6/conduit, 5 conduits needed (30 pcs total)
B: 5/conduit, 8 conduits needed (40 pcs total)
C: 5/conduit, 10 conduits needed (50 pcs total)

## Test Dome Edit

Numbers for the small model test dome:

Base diameter
10.24 in
Spherical radius
5.5433 in
Strut lengths
A = 1.932 (1 15/16) in -- Black struts
B = 2.236 (2 1/4) in -- Silver struts
C = 2.286 (2 5/16) in -- White struts
